THE NEWS

So the big news! Zoe and I are engaged! We are planning to get married at the end of this summer in a nice West Sussex, 15th Century manor house called St Marys. Oddly Zoe has handed most of the organisation over to me… with the footnote of “along as I have expensive shoes…” almost feels like an episode of ‘Don’t tell the Bride’!

Here are a few snaps of the venue :)

Contains one scene of Mild Peril!

I woke this morning to find poor Wendy on her back! This always makes me worry as I can never really know how long she has been like that… it’s time like this when I truly come to understand the term ‘mild peril’.

A recent picture of Wendy eating tomato:

Made this… to follow the trend. I think is funny!

A brimful of… dirty plates and socks

Good Morning Campers!

My life is such a mess! Well I say my life… I really just mean my flat. Ah, just being so lazy, leaving days of washing up and clothes on floor blah blah blah, can’t find the enthusiasm to tidy up! The silly thing is, when I do bother to do it, I get such a feeling of satisfaction and it really doesn’t take very long at all. Being brutally honest, writing this blog now is just another way of avoiding it… :)

But never the less, it shall be done in good time.

Well, I have not written anything since before Christmas, so to catch up on that, I spent most of my short holiday at my mother’s house with my girlfriend and we just ate, and opened presents and watched movies etc etc. Amongst the excitement of it all Zoe bought me a Kindle! Which I actually love, such a cool little device and I am so impressed with how efficiently it all works, buy a book on online and it just appears on your kindle seconds later… fantastic!

New years was excellent! Bit of a boys night, watched fighting on the tele, then played ‘Beer Pong’, which for those of you who are unfamiliar, is a brilliant drinking game where two teams arrange a triangle of cups at each end of a table, fill them with beer then attempt to bounce ping pong balls into the opposing side’s cups. Purpose being; ball goes in cup, opponent has to drink the beer…and the more beer you drink, the harder it becomes to play! Simple and fabulous. Hours of boyish entertainment!

MUSIC OF THE MOMENT

Do you remember Cornershop? of course you do! They released that fantastic tune, ‘Brimful of Asha’ with Fat Boy Slim  back in 1997.

Well, I recently stumbled across a new album of their’s that was released last year, ‘Corner shop and the Double-O Groove of..’

It is most splendid, it is sort of a mash up between traditional Indian music (which normally hold no interest with me) and what I like to call ‘New York Pop’.

It is sort of dancy, sort of weird, sort of lovely! My ‘Beiber fever’ girlfriend hates it and wont let me play it in the house any more, but my mother’s birthday is coming up and I have bought her the CD as I think it will be right up her street!

I really recommend you check it out:

Talking of Birthdays, we are two days away from mine! the big two-four… not sure what this will now entitle me to, perhaps I should start taking more accountability for cleaning my house!?

DISCUSSION POINT-

How clean is your house!?

I am starting to think I want to book a holiday… I have some Amex points coming my way soon which should get me a flight almost anywhere, so I the world is my Oyster. Just no idea where I want to go yet! Please submit any suggestions to by PO BOX :-)

That will do, I need to clean something… probably

Toodles x

The Yahoo Virus

Ah! Time to blog for blog’s sake.

It seems that my life has consisted of work, work and more work of recent. I have been working in my new job for a little less than 6 months now but it feels like I have been doing it for years! A carefully planned onslaught of minor and major troubles. Though Christmas is coming and this should hopefully give me the time I need to plateau the wobbling sine wave of my working life!

The biggest single update I have is that I found a wonderful girl to share my life with. Only a month or two in, so I wont give too much away… but her name is Zoe, she lives in London, so we are mostly spending our time together at weekends and so far has been time well spent and I am very happy :)

Next bit of news is that I have started to playing in a band, tinkering the keyboard with a small gang of middle aged rockers. Not the flavour of music I would normally be doing but I am starting to really enjoy it and hopefully we will have some live performances coming up soon!

As mentioned above, Christmas is etching the horizon and I am as excited as ever. I have a really childish passion for Christmas that I hope to never grow out of. I tend to love all the things most people hate; mainly the shopping and the music. Christmas shopping is amazing, shops are full of silly gadgets and gizmos (the USB powered desktop Henry Hoovers are a personal favourite) Everywhere plays Christmas music and my spotify is seldom anything but Jona Lewie or Wizard. I like buying presents, embarking on an expedition to find the things your family friends never knew they wanted! Like that book on Spitefires for you Dad or perhaps a pokka dot cake tin for Grandpa… nothing like it. All the excitement is still to come!

As usual I am watching TV as write this, CSI Miami is on at the moment and it is by far the most brutal episode I have ever seen, young girls being buried, finger nails being removed and such.. not the normal triangulation of cell phones and the aerodynamics of bullets. This feels more like a TV rendition of a Saw movie. Oh Dear.

To follow the theme of malicious attacks, I have a virus on my laptop. I have always said “only people that don’t know how to use the internet get viruses” and now I’m one of them! Though saying that it is THE MOST ridiculous virus, I didn’t even think it was a virus till I starting googling. The virus in question changes my default search engine to Yahoo every time I open my browser. How stupid is that? No hidden monsters or spyware and so on… just changing my search engine to Yahoo. I am trying to put my self in the mind of the person that wrote this virus and what they hoped to achieve from it… but this has proved to be quite a struggle, an amusing struggle at that!

Any who, enough words, below is a music video I made a month or so ago. I hope you like.

I made a music video!

“Stay away from Juliet “

Little to report, all is quite on the western front… but it is good keep some consistency with blog writings.

As I write this I am cooking a knock out Lamb Rogan Curry! Lamb went in the oven about an hour ago with the appropriate flavorings, so it is probably nearing completion! nom nom!

I am also currently listening to Taylor Swift as I cook… not the most credible of music choices but that is how I roll (apparently).

In more significant life occurrences;

I have recently discovered the midnight classic movie showings at the Duke of York of Cinema and it has become apparent to me that there is nothing cooler than getting drunk in the cinema watching old school films well into the depths of the night!

I went to see the Lost Boys a few weeks ago which was really quite exciting to watch at the cinema, and then last weekend we went to see Waynes World 1 & 2 back to back, it didn’t finish till around 3.30 in the morning! …She will be mine.

Wendy has had some exciting new upgrades to her home! Here is a photo of the new & improved ‘Chateaux de Wendy’:

I think it gives Wendy a strong feeling professionalism, “it is good to be an executive tortoise”

I have slowly but surely been working on a piece of music for my friend. I have not made music in such a long time and I am finding it very hard to get back into ‘the swing’ of it. Here is a mixdown/up of my progress:

Enjoy?

Any way, just like Natalie Imbruglia; I am all out of faith and this is how I feel,

I bid thee fair well till next time.

I can’t stop listening to this song….

“Dear Mary, I find the world very confusing”

“Dear Mary, I find the world very confusing”

Just as I sat down to write this, I heard the Telebox output the above quote. Doesn’t mean much, but I got a feeling of honesty from it and it compelled me.

Straight to it, the question I keep hearing from you is “Where is Wendy?”

Well the answer to your question is… HERE IS WENDY:

Wendy

Is she not just a beautiful specimen of a infant reptile!? We very much a happy family, she lives in my front room in her hand crafted tortoise box and spends the most of her time overcoming objects and filling small spaces between furniture!

In other recent excitements (in bullet form):

  • Royal Wedding- what a wonderful day, good weather, I watched it on the tele… good work royals!
  • My current celebrity loves are: Naya Rivera (Santana from glee) and Suzi on the apprentice!
  • I still need to get an electric shower in my flat, recently got a quote for nearly £900…. I intend to go elsewhere.
  • Got a promotion at work, I am now the evil overlord of my department. People often ask me who my inspirations are in the management world, I would have to say Darth Vader. Siths are renown for great service delivery.
  • I am going to Scotland next month. I have never been to Scotland before.

I would like to make some comments on the film industry. Reason being that I have watched a few films in the past month…

I was quite disappointed by the latest Fast and Furious movie, mainly because it had been hyped up by people close to me that i trusted… life has been cruel to my heart.

I was NOT disappointed at all when I came to watch ‘Hanna’. What a great film. Interesting and fresh approach to an otherwise ‘seen this before’ sort of plot. which is unusual. Great filming, acting and locations. Some quirky cameos which added some nice flavours to the overall feel of the film. Good film.

‘Monsters’; a British film that came out last year, kinda went under the radar. Was an independent film with a tiny budget which felt like a massive SFX blockbuster. The most amazing thing about this film was all the footage was ad lib and locations where found opportunistically. Given that, some of the location footage was beautiful, really captured some of important landscapes of central America. I really want people to watch this film! (trailer)

I fell asleep trying to watch ‘The American’

I have not seen ‘Thor’ yet…. and I am KEEN to do something about that!

That is pretty much the highlights of my film watching of recent. So, next topic; Twitter… I keep trying to get into Twitter and I just can’t. I have it on both of my phones now, in the vain hope that I might write something… but come the moment of typing such things, I just can’t work out what I am about to achieve, and then quit.

Any feedback on this is welcome!

????????

Also, I need a hair cut and I am having stronger urges than ever to become a pop star… envisaging somewhere between Lady Gaga and David Grey.

Thank you for your time.
